Susquehanna Valley Vans Inc. HistorySusquehanna Valley Vans was organized when a group of ten friends all interested in their vans, decided they would start a van club for van enthusiast in the Susquehanna Valley. The friends made a flyer that told of the very first meeting. That meeting was held on June 14, 1977 at a local pizza shop in Sunbury, PA. After a few meeting and word of this new van club got out. The club began to grow in membership and new friendships were growing. Susquehanna Valley Vans was now born and members were ready to start hosting one day van shows at Knobels Grove and the Susquehanna Valley Mall. The shows were a big attraction in the area and the public enjoyed them as well. This went on for a few more years and the club decided to hold their very first weekend event in April 1981 and it would be called SPRING THAW. The event would later become the formal start of the northeast vanning season. By 1984 the newly formed club had reached nearly thirty vans and decided to see a lawyer about becoming incorporated. The paper was all done and on July 9, 1985 the club would now be forever known as SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY VANS, INC. Susquehanna Valley Vans, Inc. members now are united and would share in the planning and running of the annual event Spring Thaw. However this was just the start of the season. Members would travel together to other van club events through the year into late fall. The club also held Halloween and Christmas parties for the members. Susquehanna Valley Vans, Inc. is the only active organized van club in the Susquehanna Valley. Susquehanna Valley Vans, Inc. is a member of the Pennsylvania Van Council. This would be all the clubs in the state of PA. The club is proud to have a member of ours serve as an officer for the council. Susquehanna Valley Vans, Inc. is now celebrating our thirty year anniversary this year!! Over the past thirty years the club has done any things for charities like TOYS For Tots, Haven Ministries, Children Miracle Network and Red Cross just to name a few. The club is like being in a big family that travels and plays together. The members help each other on their vans as well as anytime a member needs help. The club is always ready for a good party and fun as well. Looking to join a club? Live in the Susquehanna Valley? Drive a van? Contact us as were always looking to help our club grow. |
